Lines and Lundgreen was originally started as Butler Construction by John (Johnny) Butler in the late 30's and early 40's.  It has had a slow metamorphosis from its 2 previous owners.  Just like today, Butler Construction did work all over the Southwest building homes and commercial buildings.

In 1945 Wilton Lines was honorably discharged from the US Navy where he served as a petty officer 2nd class (PO2)  He went to Phoenix to find work for his wife and small family doing sheet metal construction making $.75 an hour.  That same year Johnny (Wilton's brother-in-law) gave him a call one night and expressed the need for a good worker, offered him $1.25 an hour, and asked when Wilton could start.  He said he'd be there in the morning.  He took the greyhound... and never worked for anyone else again.

In 1945 there wasn't a single roofing company in Yuma.  The only workers you could get to come here had to come from Phoenix or San Diego, and they never came when there was just one house to do.  People had to wait till there were a few houses under construction for the roofers to come to town.  At times the wait to put a roof on a new house could be delayed for weeks and sometimes months.  This really upset Johnny because his work could not be done either because he was waiting for the roofers... so one day he left town, bought a tar kettle and returned.  In the morning, Yuma had it's first roofers.  Yuma also needed some good insulators and they decided they could handle that as well.  So Butler Roofing and Insulation was born.  Wilton remained Johnny's foreman for the next 25 years, and when Johnny decided he would retire on the mid sixties, Wilton bought the company's stock and all its equipment, and changed the name to Lines Roofing and Insulation.

Lines Roofing and Insulation remained under Wilton's direction until 1981 when his son John Lines and his son-in-law Steve Lundgreen bought it from him.  The name was changed at that time to its current name.  There were 6 employees (including John and Steve) when the name changed.

At current Lines and Lundgreen Roofing and Insulation employs some 90+ employees.  We continue to do residential and commercial roofing and insulation, and have added a few other necessities as time has passed.  They are: Acoustical ceilings, built in vacuum systems for residential and commercial applications, supply stone fascia for residential facades, and most recently we supply rebar for several concrete companies in the area.  We are still one of the most prominent businesses in Yuma in our trades and professions.

John's eldest of 10 children, Jonathan has taken on one of the most active roles in the company's interest; an ever-increasing, decision-making role in its organization and administration. And over the past years, all of John's sons--David, Spencer, Stephen, Michael, Brian, Jeff and Eric have worked alongside their father and brothers in the family business. Currently Jonathan, and Michael, are full-time employees at Lines and Lundgreen Roofing and Insulation; while Spencer works part-time maintaining this site and email services.
